BEGINNER CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AGE 5 AND UP

Greetings and welcome to gymnastics! Our 55-minute Beginner Classes at GOP Gymnastics teach students to all four Women’s Olympic disciplines (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor) while also providing access to the trampoline and foam pit.

LEVEL 1 FOR BEGINNERS

Beginners are introduced to gym safety, vocabulary, and body types, as well as how to build strength on the floor and bars.

 

LEVEL 2 FOR BEGINNERS

Students build on their knowledge of forms and strength from Beginner 1.

No prior gymnastics experience required; must be enrolled in Kindergarten or higher.

ADVANCED BEGINNER CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AGE 5 AND UP

Advanced Beginner Classes are 55 minutes long and are designed for students who have mastered the fundamental abilities given in Beginner. The gymnast is introduced to high balance beams and bars at this level.

LEVEL 1 ADVANCED BEGINNER

Vertical handstands and cartwheels, beginning backbends, and a hip pullover from a block on bars are all included in the skill development.

LEVEL 2 ADVANCED BEGINNER

Students continue to develop their abilities, forms, and strength acquired in Advanced Beginner 1, including handstand forward rolls, bridge kick overs on a wedge, and the hip pullover from the floor on bars.

Prerequisite: Expertise in the abilities taught in Beginner

BEGINNER/ADVANCED BEGINNER COMBINATION CLASS FOR CHILDREN AGE 5 AND UP

This is the class for your child if they are on the verge of advancing to the next Beginner Level! Advanced beginner skills will be introduced. Beginner skills will be perfected. Not to worry, our excellent coaches will be able to push each youngster according to their unique abilities!

 

INTERMEDIATE CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AGE 5 AND UP

This 75-minute Intermediate lesson allows gymnasts to expand on their Advanced Beginner skills.

INTERMEDIATE 1

*THREE DAYS PER WEEK ARE RECOMMENDED

Back and front walkovers on the floor, back hip circles on the bars, and handstand flat backs on the vault all help build skills.

Prerequisite: Proficiency in Advanced Beginner skills.

 INTERMEDIATE 2

*THREE DAYS PER WEEK ARE RECOMMENDED

Gymnasts begin by learning back handsprings on the floor, progress to larger circular skills on the bars, then improve their tumbling and dance skills on the balancing beam.

Prerequisite: Proficiency in Intermediate 1 skill
